Delta on Demand

Overview

There are 18 777-200 ER/LR aircrafts in the Delta fleet which operate its international services.

Delta is in the middle of retrofitting all of their 777-200 ER/LR aircrafts with their new Delta One product as well as a refresh of the interior.

Delta's previous 777-200 ER/LR Delta One had a herringbone patten where all seats were angled towards the aisle, which provided maximum privacy and all seats have access to the aisle. In the new “Delta One” configuration, all business-class seats, which are suite-like seats, include a sliding privacy door. While the Delta One seat is an upgrade from the current business-class option on the 777, there will be fewer seats in that cabin. Prior to the retrofit, Delta’s 777s featured 37 business-class seats, now there are 28 business-class seats.

Can be noisy due to crew talking in galley or econ pax waiting to use washroom. More support for right elbow (than seat 7A) but it is still inadequate. Overhead space somewhat smaller - especially if crew put their bags in there ( as was the case with the previous Delta one config). The door of 8B could never be closed during the 15.5hr flight (several doors with this problem). Seat padding very thin and on such a long flight it makes a poor bed.

Very thin, uncomfortable padding. No room for right elbow - no elbow rest due to an elbow support design that is too short. Has some nice table top space against the window though! Can place a laptop there and work comfortable without having to use your table tray. Don't like the 3-point seatbelt harness consisting of hip and shoulder belts because shoulder belt cuts into my neck from anchor point behind. IFE is all touch screen which is difficult to reach when lying down. Remote control was better suited when lying down.

I found 40D to be a surprisingly comfortable seat for the 15 hour flight from ATL to JNB. Recline seemed as good as other rows, the lavatory wasn't an issue as people lined up behind the bulkhead. Best of all, we were able to use the area behind the seat for extra storage for a diaper bag and other small items, freeing up space for our feet.

Row is slightly offsef toward the window to allow for wider aisle, so TV screen is not quite centered in front of you. Middle armrests in this row are fixed (although aisle armrest can raise), although row 55 and 57 both raise. Tight fit!

Boarding pass calls these seats A and B, they are offset toward the window, not the aisle as shown in Seatguru diagram, more elbow room, every other row is 3 seats

My first time on the Delta 777 equipped with Premium Select seating. For my 11 hour flight I found the seat to be comfortable. Bulkhead seat with 2 empty seats next to me! Flight attendant service was very good, food not great but was palatable. My only complaint would the the on-board entertainment system. My screen locked up and had to be reset multiple times.
