Seated in 36K at the window, I can echo duct tape covering cracks, ashtrays, no leg room due to black box, no power receptacles - so you can tell the plane is really old. But worst thing for me was the entertainment screen. Couldn't believe how bad the graphics were for 2018. Made an 8 hour flight feel like 16. I literally could not read the words for the menu, and I have 20/20 vision. And it often glitched out and said my program wasn't available. I would not fly Air France again.

Flew AF metal in hopes of finding something better than my hometown Delta. What a mistake! This 340 was so old that it still had ashtrays in the seats. No power of any kind at the seat in economy. Meals and drinks were OK but only "self-serve" beverage service after meal. That's great if you can get out of your seat but not great if you are stuck next to a sleeping passenger or unable to get around easily. AF requirement to pay for seat assignments even on a long haul flight is ridiculous. Many people were trying to trade seats, entire families were just sitting down in a row and hoping nobody would evict them - not a way to do business on a 9 hour flight. I can't believe I'm saying this but I will book Delta next time!

I chose the bulkhead seat for the extra legroom. There was plenty of leg room, but to utilize it, I had to place my feet in the aisle of the first class cabin. This was not comfortable to sleep, as I was persistently afraid of being stepped upon, or run into. There is no recline in any seat in Premium Economy. The backs of the seats do not move. The wider seat and arm rest are worth the money, but the tray table for the bulkhead seat is small and awkwardly positioned. The traytables for the rest of premium economy are very large. I could not have used a laptop in this seat.

This is a standard premium economy seat. As previously noted, there is no recline for any of these seats. I am 212 cm tall, and was able to cross my legs in the seat, and mostly straighten them under the seat in front of me. Having flown in the bulkhead on the outbound leg, I prefer a standard premium economy seat for the ability to stretch my legs under the seat in front.

All K seats are really bad because there is a metal box that reduces legroom. Other seats are just mediocre as the plane is really old ; armrests do not fold completely, are wide and have hard angles.

First time on a A340. Mostly flown 747 or 777 on trans oceanic routes. I was impressed by this old airplane. Granted, the monitor was small; but, it did not detract from keeping me entertained. The cabin was quieter and seats were very comfortable. My knees did not touch the seat in front of me and the seat tray floated above my legs in normal seated position. I am 6"1 and 185 lbs.

Business class product for this flight is different than other AF business class. It's not the 1-2-1 configuration, but rather, a 2-2-2 configuration. I enjoyed it for the duration of flight. While it doesn't offer the privacy like the other business cabins, it still offer the same amount of room and a flat bed. It's perfect for 2 people who know each other and want to sit together. However, if you are sitting with a stranger, it may cause issues, especially if you're at the window seat and trying to get out. Overall, 2B was a good seat. My husband was sitting at 2A. A lot of arm resting space on the window side. Since it was a bulkhead, it wasn't difficult for him to get in/out and the FA during dinner services.

Normally I avoid the back of a plane like the plague, but if you're not going to pay for a seat towards the very front of the economy section, sitting in the back may be best for this 10,000 year old plane. There's ever so slightly more room in the aisle because there are fewer seats across. HAVING SAID THAT this flight was miserable. Horrible movie selection, the screens are marginally larger than an iPhone, the screen quality is horrendous, and if you want to use your own headphones, you need to place the adapter ever so perfectly in jack. If you have a choice, fly a route that doesn't include the A340.

I flew Premium Economy in March of 2017 out of Detroit bound for Paris. The Premium Economy sounded ideal, with some of the luxury and enhanced space of Business Class but at a greatly reduced rate. Alas, I was wrong, and I will never fly Premium Economy again (or Air France, if I have anything to say about it). Yes, you are in a cocoon, and yes, you get better food and other amenities. But the actual flying (or sitting, to be more accurate) experience was little short of torture. To be specific, I felt as though I was sitting on a concrete slab. And it was an eight hour flight. After about 90 minutes, I couldn't take it any longer, and went aft, finding a couple of vacant seats in coach - also not comfortable, but not as terrible as Premium Economy. I asked my stewardess if any other passengers had complained about the seats in Premium Economy, and she said, "Oh yes, we have heard this often!" Just a post-script: there were also some empty seats four abreast in coach, but the armrests wouldn't flip up, so lying down was not an option. That seems to be a trend for some reason.

I agree with all the other comments posted. This aircraft is old and hasn't been updated in decades. With that being said, seat 25A had restricted legroom due to a black box (not sure what its function was) under the seat in front. This box took up 1/3 of my legroom. This made my long flight extremely uncomfortable as leg room was already lacking.

I got a free upgrade from seat 18b to 14B which was really nice. The seat is very comfortable and more spacious than normal economy. In comparison to the other seats there is more legroom in row 14 but the compartment wall in front takes away some of the foot space which is a little inconvenient for people with long legs. When given the choice in Economy Comfort I would prefer an isle seat in row 15 (15B and 15J) or 16 (16B or 16J). Good thing is that you are immediately behind the exit of the plane which enables you to exit the plane first (after business class) and can save you considerable waiting time at border control.

In the economy segment the duo seats 20A and 20B and likewise the 20H and 20J on the other side of the plane which I accidentally used on other flights from Cotonou to Paris should be mentioned as very poor seats. The legroom is smaller that rows 19 or 21 and when seats 19 recline, it is nearly impossible to eat at the reclining back of seat 19 hangs over the tablet of seat 20. (stewardess has to ask passengers of seats 19 to put the seat in landing position until the end of dinner!) Furthermore as soon as seat 19 reclines even one notch, the head lamp for seats 20 is obscured by the reclined back of row 19, hence disabling the reading function of the headlamp. Furthermore, AirFrance has the guts to offer these row 20 seats at a surcharge choice for passengers wishing to be seated on a duo-seat closer to the exit of the plane. Interestingly enough, this discomfort does not apply to the 4-seat block in-between as the seats are somehow aligned slightly further down than the left and right duo-block seats. In other words don't be tempted and trapped in these poor seats on a long haul flight.

This aircraft is equipped with an older Economy Class and it feels not that narrow as the newer aircrafts of AF. Maybe its because of the wide armrests with ashtrees. Service was really ok, nearly friendly, food was ok. The personal screens are very small, Movies in foreign languages are rare, but for me legroom was more important and this was ok for an European airline ecept the missing space because of the entertainment box. I will choose this aircraft again

I don't think this plane has been updated since the late 90's. The video screen is terrible and constantly skipped. The a/c didn't work when we boarded and there are no air vents, so the plane was about 95 degrees F. At least the ash trays in the gigantic arm rests were clean. At least the food was decent and service was friendly, however I was only able to order one beer to help with my misery. Avoid this embarrassingly outdated plane if possible.

There is no personal air vent so if you find the cabin is too hot, deal with it. The in-flight screen is the smallest of any airline I have flown from Europe in over 20 years. Totally unimpressed.

This is an Premium Economy seat where we paid 1000 extra. Seat is not for 180cm person as legrest is too short and space in front is very limited. On top of this the food and wine is really bad and the same as in Exonomy. No reason to pay extra.

This seat has slightly less legroom than compatable seats in front and behind due to a 'kink' in the cabin/aisle and because of the way the seats are angled at the aisle end to follow it. Conversely, seat 42A has more than the equivalent seat in row 41 and 43 for the same reasons.

The arm-rests and tray table were placed too low for me (I am 6 feet tall). The tray table was hitting my knees, and I could get it horizontal only by crossing my legs beneath it. It would not stay horizontal with my legs in normal position. The screen for entertainment system was too small, and its screen guard had developed a lot of bubbles, making the experience more pathetic.

I traveled in Premium Economy seats three times on Air France Airbus planes. I won't do it again. The specs for the seats indicate a greater recline than an economy class seat, but the way they "recline" is by having the horizontal part of the seat slide forward, while the upper part of the seat back remains fixed. This means that your head remains in the same relatively upright position more upright than in a standard economy class seat. It also means that your legs move forward along with the seat, reducing the "extra" legroom. I found this position quite uncomfortable, and almost impossible to sleep in. In addition, the bulky plastic arms of the seat make it actually harder to move your knees to one side or the other. I've gone back to standard economy class seats, and I am definitely happier (and sleep better) there.

This seat looks good and comfortable on paper, but is not. Tray table and inflight entertainment are in the armrest, so the seat is smaller than usual. Additionally, the inflight entertainment for seat 19E is in the backrest of seat 18D. Combined with the quite old screens of the entertainment system, this means, the individual in 19E has to lean over into the seatspace of 19D to get a decent view of his/her screen. There also is only a small underseat sorage area for 19D and everybody (especially service carts and passengers from Premium Economy on the way to the lavatories step on your feet or bump into your knee. For me, a yellow or even a yellow/red would be the adequate rating for this seat, as well as for 19G, where the problems are mirrored.
