TUIfly: Children Flying Alone

What is unaccompanied minor service?

Young children traveling without a parent or legal guardian are considered unaccompanied minors. Most airlines provide a service to assist these children from their point of departure to their final destination.

What age does my child have to be to qualify as an unaccompanied minor?

The service is mandatory for children ages 5-11 traveling without an adult. Children under 5 years of age are not allowed to travel unless accompanied by an adult.

What are the fees associated with this service?

This costs USD $40 / €30 / £24 / SEK 285 on international flights and €35.70 on domestic (German) flights. These rates are per child, per flight and on top of the airfare. This escort service must be pre-booked by calling the TUIfly Service Centre. In all cases, TUIfly goes by the child's age at the start of the return flight.

Are there any flight restrictions?

Unaccompanied minors may not take pets on board (either in the cabin or the hold). Carriage of physically or mentally restricted unaccompanied minors is not possible.

Some countries permit children and adolescents under the age of 18 to leave their home country only on presentation of an authorization form completed by their parents or legal guardians. It is the passenger's responsibility to carry the required documents with them. With the exception of its escort service (which is subject to a charge), TUIfly will not supervise or chaperone passengers and is not liable for the consequences of inadequate supervision or chaperoning.
