Overview

LATAM flies the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner with 247 seats in a two-class configuration of Business and Economy. The aircraft is configured with 30 Premium Business Class seats that transform into 72 inch long beads and 217 standard Economy Class seats.

LATAM was the first airline in the Americas to add the Boeing 787 Dreamliner to its fleet, and flew its first route on November 1, 2012.

The dome shaped interior, which LATAM opted for in their version of the Dreamliner, allows for a more spacious in-flight experience.

seats are standards, not old and not too comfortable as usual. the last rows are used to the crew for sleeping, so don't consider sleeping there if you think there will be empty spaces overthere. the first row (12 and 26) has extra space for legs and seats are a bit wider, but nothing much besides that. Rows 13,14,15 and behind are sold for a expensive price than usual seats, but only get priority for luggage and boarding, besides that, it's just a regular seat as all the others.

The worst seat I've ever traveled in. The seats on row 36 are crew seats with extra leg room at the expense of seats 35A,35B and 35C. Yet, LATAM's system charged us to travel on seats where all the trip from Santiago to Mexico City me and my friends knees where against the back of the seats on row 34. Definitively, I would classyfy these seats as no apt for any one taller than 1.75 mts. Entertainment is also poor, unless you are willing to watch movies like Home Alone and other oldies.

Due to the position of the seat, not aligned with 25D I had been hited several times in the right shoulder from air hostess and passangers. I had to seat myself in a position to avoid it.

Excellent seat but storage is lacking. Nowhere to put glasses phone etc except foot well. Lumbar support good. Seat controls a little fussy. Service ok on a short 4 hour flight. Lie flat comfortable up to 6ft height.

LAX-LIM and back. Chose the same seat for both legs and it was very comfortable, private and quiet. I'm 5'10" and could extend my feet all the way on bed mode. Taller people might not be able to though. I had a very good experience overall with LATAM.

Lan used to be a great airline with the 767. Now with the 787, I wonder how they dare to call it an improvement. The experience is just awful. Seat pitch is just not adequate for a long trip. And the 3-3-3 layout is unbearable. Next time I will try to avoid it if I have a choice.

Seat 2J on business class was fine. I wish it were a bit longer though. I'm 6'5" and could not stretch on the flat bed. I like to fly LaTam. I had heard very good comments and agree with them. Of course the attendants are Chileans, who usually tend to rub me the wrong way because they try to be pleasant and they are, but their effort is palpable and they end up appearing insincere. Service is professional but a bit rushed. Overall is much better than other airlines that serve southern South America, which is why I keep flying again with them.

Rows 4 and 5: The wind noise from the exit doors is extremely loud. Row 5: Almost over the wing and the vibration from the engine is constant.

The protrusion from the door is there but it doesn´t clip much of the expanded legroom. There is no window on that seat (it is the one from the door but it is not near). Nevertheless it is one of the best economy seats on the 788.

Is this a low cos airline? Seat space is scarce, no space for legs (I am 6 ft tall) and gets worse if the front seat is reclined. LAN ofered seat 39A but at the very last moment I was moved with the excuse that the crew was going to use it. Lan's 787 should be called nightmare liner. The only thing that compensates the terrible trip was the kindness of the flight attendant. I will rather fly Aeroméxico if I eveg go to Chile again.

One of my worst nights on an aeroplane, LAN 787-8, Santiago-Madrid. The plane was full. Seat pitch smaller than usual in economy. Moreover as you recline, the seat moves forward and reduces legroom even further. I had to move the knee a bit out in the aisle, but people bumped into it all the time as the aisle is so narrow. The Dreamliner, well the window blinds are cool, but nothing else. Not quiter than other aircrafts, no roomy feeling at all. Never again.

By far the best aircraft I´ve ever travelled on. Great interior and AVOD-system, large windows and very low noise level. LAN flies FRA-MAD route with the 787, you can get a round trip for about 100, which is a great value. Very friendly and attentive flight attendants, especially towards children. Seat pitch and width is not great, but better than all other carriers on this route. Most negative point is that there are only 4 toilets for the economy cabin, which is no problem on this short flight , but I am sure you have to wait a long time when you fly to SCL.

Just got off a flight SCL to MAD. I generally prefer LAN over Iberia for this route, partly because of the Dreamliner. I was excited when the gate agent 'upgraded' me from a normal window seat to an exit row window seat. This was actually the worst seat on the plane. No window at all and the fuselage curves up right into your torso, allowing no elbow room on that side and requiring your to shift your entire upper body into your neighbor's personal space. The worst part is that the emergency door juts abnormally out into the cabin around 10cm before the knee, requiring an additional body contortion to position the legs diagonally towards the center of the cabin. Most normal airliners would have left this seat and its opposite on the other side of the plane out of its configuration. I can only imagine masochists, persons of reduced stature, and cirque du soleil contortionists enjoying a 12 hour flight in such an arrangement.

LAX to SCL (Santiago, Chile). Perfect seat, full width flat bed; 3 windows, what's not to like? No aisle access with the seat pitch getting out no problem at all....I'm 73 but can still climb over sleeping people with no problem at all. LAN's seats are so unlike the terrible business class seats in competing AA 787-800s. Being in one of those is claustrophobic, cramped and feels like you're in a dark cave. LAN's interior with the optional sky ceiling and bright colors makes a tremendous difference. Not to mention all LAN's seats are forward facing.

LAX-SCL, great airplane with bigger windows and better cabin altitude. Seems this is the same interior as the 767, but that is fine with a comfortable seat and good cabin crew. Much better than what American offers, even in first class.

LAN 787 in economy was an absolute nightmare. Very narrow seats and no legroom. I guess any 3-3-3 config for this jet is squeezing in an extra seat. Compared to a 767 2-4-2 the 787 is just awful. Especially for 16hrs of flying to Sydney. 747 and A380 are great as they are designed for 3-4-3 and have the correct seat width and pitch. Never again - squeezeliner.

The comment states that there is a table between seat 36J and 36L (same for 36A/C), but in fact there is no table. The two seats are situated next to each other, but there is some more empty space between 36L (36A) and the window.

Seat 15L: Trip from Madrid to Santiago. I find the seat perfectly fine, enough legroom. Im 1.83cm, and I wasn't feeling too cramped . The seat itself is nice, comfortable for a night of sleep. It has adjustable head-rest. The IFE is great too; although the resolution of the screen is on the low side Also I have to commend the service, which was really good, and the food was oK. My order for a vegan meal was fulfilled, and at the end of the meal, they will offer some nice ice cream. So, Lan´s 788 has enough legroom, a comfy seat, and Boeing´s big windows and overhead compartments are great. Also, I find the lower cabin altitude offered by the 787 really works, since I wasn´t feeling congested, and yo do arrive "fresher" than flying other planes.

This seat is as good as all othet business class seats, but you only have two windows compared to three on most other seats in the business class cabin. But it is not disturbing as the farthest one is missing. The best about this seat is that you get the real feeling of the Dreamliner's spaciousness as you are in the "entrance hall" of the aircraft. The downside is that during boarding all economy passengers will stroll along and eventualy queue right in the are as the seat is behind exit 2L.

Row 35 has slightly narrower seats (or smaller space between seats, not sure). The width of the airplane gets narrower, but the number of seats remains the same.

Not a Dreamliner with LAN configuration of 3-3-3 making seats very narrow and poor leg room. 35L needs to be marked as "Bad seat" as the fuselage narrows at this point and the seat is 4cm narrower to accomodate this. At 1.83m I need to sit with legs apart to fit. The right had arm rest was so close my right leg had to stay straight and was hard pressed against the seat in front. Fortunately my wife swapped seats with me. Presumably 35A is the same.

Ich bin noch nie so schlecht geflogen ! Enge Sitze, Po an Po gar nicht zu reden vom Schulterbereich wenn man den Nebenmenschen nicht kennt wirklich sehr unangenehm. Bei einem 12 Stundenflug ist der Beinabstand eine Frechheit. Toiletten nur im Mittelteil und davon 4 Stück bei einem voll besetzen Flieger steht man Minimum 30 Minuten an ! Im hinterem Bereich ist es laut und der Flieger ist instabil, jede Windbewegung gibt der Flieger weiter. Dreamliner ist für mich etwas anders !!! Nie wieder.

These are crew rest seats. They are closed and unaccessible for long-haul flights but it's however possible to seat there on smaller flights such as Madrid - Frankfurt. Recline is 2 to 3 times better than the normal seats, same for the pitch. The seat is larger. There is very few distractions coming from the back of the plane because there's only the galley and it is well insonorized. Window seat gets two of the 3 TV. Tables are on the seat in front as well as in the armrests. The seats are similar to a premium economy seat on other airlines. Definitely the bests. Only for 36A-C and J-L.

Seat reclines to a flat position and window seating on clear days even more exceptional ... I flew on a clear day from Santiago Chile to Miami through Cancun and my experience was beyond my expectations by far ... although you are paying almost double the fare to travel in this class of service -- well worth the while especially for a close to 9 hour flight ...

What a horrible experience. I was extremely uncomfortable in economy class. This was perhaps the worst seat I've ever sat in on a plane. No room at all. The seat width is not adequate. I think I know how it feels to be an animal confined in a small cage. Continually bumped into by staff with no apologies as well as rude passengers on their way to the bathroom. Impossible to sleep on an 8 hour plus flight. The only positive thing was the Dreamliner's new air filtration system which made breathing easier. I doubt I will ever fly internationally with Lan again unless it's business class.

It is a downgradung from previous aircrafts. Space between seats is awfully tiny and as the stewardess said to me: it seems to be nice, but as soon as we've left you will see passengers walking through the aisle because of the space and of the toughness of the seats. I put it simply: i couldn't sleep!!!

Having read the comments about the lack of space in economy I was a bit anxious about my recent trip to Chile which included 3 flights on the 787 - two being MAD-SCL and back. However when it came to it I found the space to be as good as any other long haul economy experience I have had in recent years. I am not a small person [6'2/210lbs][1.9m/105k] - economy is never going to be spacious but LANs 787s are quite adequate for someone my size. Food was OK; flight attendants very good; entertainment choice was very good - though sound quality not brilliant.

JFK-SCL Horrible experience in economy. I'm an IT consultant and flight almost every week. This is the most uncomfortable plane I've ever taken. Corridors are too narrow, not enough leg room, seats recline very little. I'll avoid 787 going forward.

Hice la ruta JFK-SCL, si bien el avión es moderno y lleno de tecnología y parafernalia LAN podría haber restado un par de filas de asientos de clase económica para hacer el viaje un poco mas placentero, este es lejos el avión con menos espacio entre asientos en el que he viajado, mido 1,90 y el viaje fue de principio a fin muy muy incomodo, cuando la persona de adelante reclinaba su asiento yo tenía que hacer contorsionismo para acomodarme, es fatal para viajes largos, la próxima vez prefiero tomar el vuelo que hace escala y viajar en el 767.

I made a round trip SCL/MIA and is is the most uncomfortable plane seats and he worst flight that I had in 35 years of flying. Leg room is horrible, 3-3-3 configuration makes seating for couples or families awful and the seat is so thin that after a few minutes it seems you are siting on a stone. On the plus side the interior feels roomy and there is incredible storage space for carryons. I would stick to flying 777 and 767 when ever I can, these seems more like a nightmareliner than a dreamliner...

Terrible space between seats in LAN's 787. I have flown both Economy and Premium Business on this airplane, and both are bad in terms of space. I am 1.92m (6'2"), and I simply did not fit. Flying between Madrid and Santiago in Economy was pure torture. Also, in Premium Business, I did not fit in the flat position, I was hitting my head against the back wall and my feet against the seat in front, and I could not stretch myself, not good if you are expecting to have a decent sleep.

I was following the process to build this airplane since I often fly to Seattle where is made by Boeing. Completely disappointed about space in all direction in economy class you feel degraded like person with LAN setup. Now I avoid 787, opting by Airbus 330 or 767 still you can have your own air.

We flew from MAD to SCL on december 2014. This is by far the most uncomfortable economy class I have ever met. This flight is really long (13hours) and it is really a disaster, seats are really narrow, the space between seats is not sufficient and they are in a straight almost forward vertical position. I would absolutely not recommend this plane for long hauls. The flight attendant even told us that many many people have complained about, and that we should complain. 3-3-3 is for short flights, not a 13h flight. I have flown this route in every other company and plane for the last 20 years, this one, is by far the worst. If you weight more than 80Kg or measure more than 1.8m, you will NOT fit.

Seat 36L (and probably 36A) is the best seat I ever had flying economy class. With a hight of 1.90 m (6'3"), flying normally is uncomfortable but with this seat it was really pleasant. Not only has it more space for the legs. It also offers extra space to recline the. Since there are no lavatories in the back-part of the aircraft, it was really calm. The only people passing by are the flight attendants. I really can recommend this seat!

I travelled from MAD to SCL. First experience with dreamliner was fantastic and the name is program. Spacious interior accompanied with new light technology in the cabin and in the windows. Service was excellent. On return i need to fly A340-600. Will comment soon.

I just flew from Santiago de Chile to Buenos Aires on LAN #445. It was my first time on a 787 "Dreamliner." The cabin has an open airy feel too it, mainly because the windows are so large. Even while sitting in the center section, you can still see out the windows fairly easily. I was surprised by the amount of leg space in coach (I was in 18J). Even when the person in front of me reclined his seat, I still had space between my knees and the seat back ahead of me. The video entertainment system was excellent and easy to use. There was one design flaw: the headphone jack, power port and USB port are under the screen in the seat back ahead of you. This means that if you are sitting in an aisle seat, you must unplug everything for your seat mate to access the aisle.
