Overview

The Airbus A321 (321) Transcontinental is the newest member of the JetBlue fleet. The fuselage has been made longer in comparison to JetBlue's popular A320, allowing for the accommodation of additional passengers.

This aircraft is the first to offer flat-bed seating and suites in the U.S. Domestic Business Class market. There are 16 seats in the JetBlue Mint Business Class, all of which are flat beds, and 4 of which are private suites. Each suite offers a closing door and is a first in the domestic U.S. market. There are 143 seats in the core JetBlue Experience.

This configuration will fly primarily between New York to Los Angeles and New York to San Francisco. This aircraft also features JetBlue's refreshed onboard experience with brand-new entertainment systems offering up to 100 channels of DirecTV programming.

JetBlue offers passengers the ability to upgrade to “Even More Space” seating from Core seating. In addition to providing an extra 4-8 inches in seat pitch, JetBlue’s “Even More Space” provides passengers with early boarding privileges, early access to overhead bins, and a fast track through security (only available in select cities). These seats are located throughout the Core cabin. “Even More Space” pricing varies by route length. These seats can be purchased from JetBlue directly at the time of booking or at check-in.

This seat was fine. The TV was large and easy to use, the seat was comfortable, the galley wasn't intrusive, and it was easy enough to step over your seatmate. My one big issue with this seat is the footwell. I have flown this plane also in seats 2F and 3F, and the footwells in those seats are much larger and better (I am 5'11), and overall it was more comfortable laying down in those seats over 1F. But, if you don't plan on laying down on your flight, seat 1F is plenty comfortable

While it has tons of legroom, I don’t much care for this seat as this row has fixed armrests that extend all the way down into the seat, making it feel much narrower. Also there is no screen on the seat back in front of you.

6A is a mixed bag. You get tons of legroom and if you don't mind smelling the bathroom this would be a great seat for a flight you don't want to sleep on. HOWEVER, if you want to sleep, this seat is really bad. It is right behind the galley and bathroom and you will be annoyed by 1) bright lights of the galley and the FA's opening and shutting the galley compartments all night. Even with noise cancelling headphones this was not drowned out, 2) the smell and sound of the toilet flushing all night, and 3) Passengers slamming around the self serve snack kiosk. Never again for an overnight.

Seats in Row 7 have the airbag built in to the seatbelt which reduces the girth of the belt. Fine for most folks, but if you've got even the slightest belly, it's a stretch to buckle up. Otherwise, no complaints. Flew in 7a round trip from Boston to Seattle, including a redeye on the way back. Enough space to doze overnight.

We flew JetBlue's A321 JFK>SFO April 3rd and SFO>FLL April 21st. For both flights, my husband and I booked EMS seats 18B & 18C. He was fine in the aisle seat 18C, but my middle seat 18B on BOTH flights did not recline as much as his did. We had great leg room, but I will avoid that seat in the future.

All of row 6 should be rated "Be Aware". The extra legroom is nice, but there is no power or underseat storage, as there is a wall instead of a seat row in front of it. The flight attendant was happy to help retrieve and stow bags for takeoff/landing, but it's still less convenient than the standard "extra space" seats.

Beware this seat. Yes, there is plenty of leg room and only one person to step over to get out (due to jump seat for flight attendant on aisle), BUT it has no window and no right side arm rest which can be really inconvenient for the long flights this plane is used for. Additionally, it was EXTREMELY cold being seated next to the emergency door. Could literally feel the freezing air coming through seal of door. Four hours into the flight I had remove my shoes and rub my toes to regain circulation, then wrap my feet in my coat to keep them from going ice cold again. I grew up in Midwest and so I'm not exaggerating when I say I could easily have gotten frostbite had I not taken those precautions. It was that cold and uncomfortable.

18C is so-so for any Even More Legroom Seat. The big negative is no recline-- I find that reclining just a inch adds significantly to my comfort without my feeling I'm crushing the passenger behind me. Also, seats on this plane seem barely padded. Even though this is an aisle seat I found it slightly disconcerting not to see a window when I glanced to my left. A positive is that when 18D jump seat is up it feels more spacious on the right and you're less likely to be bumped by someone going down the aisle. Another reviewer said that 18F feels like the Space Shuttle. I'd say vibe in row 18 is like that of a military transport with 18C being best seat in row. Pleasant JetBlue crew though!

This is a horrible seat - AVOID. This should be coded as a bad seat in RED. The exit door sticks out 4 inches from the wall and the armrest on the window-side is shifted over the seat (instead of adjacent to it), which makes the seat about 2-3 inches narrower than other seats. The window is misaligned so you can't see out of the window unless you lean forward.

In my opinion, Row 5 (especially seats D&F) on this A321 (Mint) deserves a warning regarding the noise and banging that comes from the galley immediately behind. Further, all the activity at the restrooms behind 5A & 5C causes additional noise. Finally, whenever the lav door is opened, the lav lights shine brightly into the 5D/5F area.

Check your laptop adapter. AC power is 110 V. I have a Dell Precision with 125 V. Adapter would not work at all, did not maintain battery, let alone charge it. Was surprised. Just an FYI for others. Otherwise great flight.

Comfortable seat, with good legroom. Plenty of snacks available, nice mood lighting at night. Wifi was spotty at the first and last 30 minutes of the flight from LAX-JFK but otherwise worked (though was slow); perhaps this had something to do with being over ocean at the start and end of the flight? Live TV worked the entire flight.

This is the best plane in the JetBlue fleet by a wide margin and you should make sure you're on it whenever you fly them on a long-haul route. Right now JetBlue uses this plane on about half its routes between BOS/JFK and the major western airports. You can tell at booking which flights use it by checking whether Mint fares are offered--all flights with Mint service use this plane, all flights without Mint use older planes. Even if you're sitting in Coach there's a notable difference: power ports at every seat, a much better entertainment selection, faster WiFi, and better cabin lighting.

JetBlue, the last time I read a review, was the only 4-star US flag airline (all the rest are 3- or 2-star)...so I chose them for a recent LAX-JFK itinerary. With 34 or so inches of seat pitch, there's really no need for me to pay more for extra room. This seat had decent room and good recline - but the lower cushion was AWFUL! The 'padding' was all bunched up in the back, resulting in my feeling as though my shirt and underthings were bunching up in the back of my trousers (for the 6 hours I occupied the seat). The only way to get comfortable (and I use the term loosely) was to slouch in the seat, which actually requires added seat pitch. So spend the extra $100 each way, and get one of the bigger seats up front. You'll want it for the knee space and to have room to keep a lunch bag nearby.

6 DEF are a nightmare seats IF your sense of smell is functioning at all. Imagine being 36 INCHES from a lavatory, which, on a cross-country flight like I flew, opens and closes about every 60 seconds! That's 300x!!! I flew to Boston in 6B, and didn't notice it (because I was visually shielded from it, and partly smell-shielded, but on the way back, 6E was bad.

17A and 17F both suffer 4" less shoulder room and poor window views. They also suffer more noise from the emergency door behind them. With a trim woman in the adjacent seat, it was tolerable at best. I always fly JetBlue transcon between JFK and California (SAN, LAX, SFO). The legroom in the Even More Space seats is great and the legroom in the standard economy seats is generally comfortable and better than the competition. The good IFE and free wifi are definitely perks with flying JetBlue. The only major complaint I have is that the economy seats are not very comfortable, I find myself shifting and getting up due to discomfort. I concur with other reviewers in regards to the IFE controls on the armrest, such a stupid design.

Great seat. Infinite legroom and window is in a fairly comfortable spot. Light from bathroom WILL be noticeable on evening flights, but I flew the red-eye and the disruption was minimal. You can stand straight up and stretch as well at any time.

The entertainment controls in the armrest of all the seats have to go. Not only do I accidently change my channels and volume---maybe even turn off the screen, but I do it to my neighbor too. I hope there is a plan for change soon. How about some kind of cover that fits on the armrest over the console since we can control everything on the touch screen now. Otherwise we love Jet Blue for is friendly and helpful flight crews, extra leg room, superb in-flight entertainment and unlimited snacks combined with competitive pricing.

On January 24 my wife and I flew JetBlue flight 416 from San Francisco to New York on an Airbus A321. We booked Even More Space Seats 18 E and F. F turned out to be one of the worst seats I have ever been in on a flight because there is no armrest. It resulted in an awkward sitting position. I tried putting my inflatable pillow and folded sweaters and coats to make something to lean on but they all fell to the ground. And because it is an exit door the wall there was very cold. The result was terrible discomfort in my shoulders and neck which has not yet gone away. Be careful of 18A which has the same problem.

While this seat has extra leg room it's a terrible seat due to the location of the snack bar and restroom. People congregate in front of the seat and bump you. Over a 5 hours in the air someone is going to be standing in front of you/bumping you 60-70% of the time. Groups of up to 5-7 people will form as people try to decide which snacks and drinks they want. Definitely opt for the windows in this row.

The many other commenters are correct that row 6 has tons of extra legroom. But the seats are hard as stone, no cushion whatsoever. My husband and I were both miserably uncomfortable and the extra legroom did not make up for this discomfort. If you take this seat bring along some kind of cushion.

This seat is an even more space seat, and is quite comfortable as expected. However, it has slightly reduced legroom on the right side, because Row 6 is angled slightly to accommodate the exit door. Also the angle of row 6 causes the TV screen to be viewed at an angle, a slight annoyance.

Loved the extra room and space . As a middle seat you can stand up and move around without bothering anyone, tons of leg room , close to snacks and drinks. And bathroom. If you are a light sleeper or want a but of quieter space , it may not work . It is an exit row and door is there .

The extra room seats on Jet Blue are comfortable and roomy enough, but the A321 seats are thinner and less cushy for an overnight flight than on the older 320s. Jet Blue is doing what all the airlines do: thinner seats to fit more on the plane. Still, a good trip at a reasonable price.

The Mint experience is on par with Virgin Atlantic intl first class. The suite is very private, comfortable and loaded with amenities. The flight crew was unbelievably attentive. The food was fresh and inspired. I had pulled pork that was fork tender. The concept of small plates (choose three of five) plus an amuse bouche, ice cream and snacks galore, kept up the high class cat. My only cons were, 1) the inventive seat configuration (seats 2A, 2F & 4A, 4F ) does not allow for pets on the floor. Luckily, the entire row 1 was available and i was allowed to change. Also, the food runs on the spicy and adventurous side, it would be nice to have one comfort entre. Overall, I'm sold on Mint!

Best coach seat on the plane. One thing to add that hasn't been mentioned: There is considerable space between the left armrest and the window. This provides good extra space to avoid your neighbors, and is a positive or a negative if your trying to sleep, depending on your sleeping position.

I concur with the previous commenter that this seat is essentially the best non-Mint seat on the plane. JB's A321's are a step up from their otherwise aging fleet and it's always a pleasure to fly them. BOS-SFO flights last roughly as long as trans-Atlantic ones originating in BOS and thus should be thought of similarly in terms of seat selection. There's a handy seat pocket on the left wall of the plane and, as mentioned, easy access to the snack/drink selection between the Mint & Coach cabins. 5/5 Stars.

Upgraded to Mint for an overnight flight from SFO to Boston. I am only sorry that I missed out on the exceptional service by sleeping. Greeted with drink, wake up package, massage chair, full size pillow and blanket. Not given a choice of 3 dinners but a sample of all on menu. I fully reclined after dinner and went to sleep. Woke up to a hot breakfast waiting for me and Boston. Row 2 is great. Individual seat with sliding door making it more of a private suite. I would definitely utilizing Jet Blue Mint again if available when I fly with them.

This may be the best row on the plane, short of the Mint section. The "extra legroom" is really about three extra feet because it is an exit row with a bulkhead. The only inconvenience is that everything must be stowed in the overhead during takeoff and landing because there is no "under-seat" stowage ahead of you. The DEF side is also fine unless you don't want to be facing the flight attendant seated in the jump seat. Proximity to the lavatory may be bothersome, but it wasn't for me. The pantry (called the "Marketplace") is there, as well. But proximity also means convenience. jetBlue staff are always in a good mood, and they welcome passengers to help themselves to the snacks and drinks. At first, I thought these seats had no TV screens... until the FA pulled them up from the seat arm. The screen angles are adjustable, and you can swing them out of the way when you want to get up from your seat. By the way, I was told that the seat did not recline, but that was not true.

I don't thing this was a fair exchange value from seat 7A as was indicated by the Jet Blue representative at the gate. Seat 18F had no window and no armrest. Seat 7A had a window and an armrest. I feel that I did Jet Blue a favor by accommodating the seat change request, but I do not think that the seat values were the same. I wish the information regarding the lack of window and armrest had been told to me when Jet Blue asked if I would be willing to change seats.

I always take this seat if it is open. I am pretty claustrophobic. There is infinite leg room because it's the front row. I aisle gives you open space on the side. It's also right by the free soft drinks and snacks. I consider the proximity to the restroom a plus. I never have an issue with odors.

In no way is 19D a "yellow" seat. I was asked to "upgrade" to this seat, being told that it was a $90 exit row seat with extra space. As it turned out, it felt like the space shuttle; I was cold and uncomfortable (my right foot was numb by the time we landed since there was limited carpet below); there was no arm rest and I especially missed having a window. The slim line seats have very poor back support and no padding at all over the frame of the seat. The frame dug into my shoulders and my back was hurting 15mins into the flight. These were the second worst seats I've experienced (the worst being the Cathay Pacific clam shell seats designed for small framed Asians).

This is a superior Mint Seat (as are 2F, 4A, 4F) to the others as it is presented as a mini-suite with a waist high door that closes off the aisle and provides superior privacy. In addition, you gain both window and aisle from a single seat.

I can't recommend getting one of the suites strongly enough. The A-C and D-F seats are fine but if you're in a window seat and your neighbor is sleeping, it's a challenge to get out gracefully. The suites are comparable to AA's F class transcon A321 product for a fraction of the cost. AA cabin seems more intimate but the suites offer a very private experience. Food was superior to AA. Service was eager and earnest. A solid C class product with an F class seat if you manage to snag a suite. Given the choice, I would still prefer to fly AA's 321 F class but if I'm the one footing the bill, B6's suites will do just fine. AA's F class seats seem to be designed better and are more adjustable. However, when you're just interested in sleeping, flat is flat and these seats are great for that. I'm 6' 1" and was comfortable.

This is a terrible seat and really isn't an "Even More Legroom" seat. You are directly behind the crew jumpseat, therefore, you cannot extend your legs forward and you have to stow all your carry-ons above in the overhead bin. The tray table is also stowed in the armrest and anytime the person next to me wanted to get out, I had to put my tray table away as it was blocking their way out. The TV screen is also mounted to the back of the jumpseat but about 12 inches higher that all the other seatback screens, so you have to look up and feels like everyone else behind you can see what youre watching.

Seat 5A is the back of the new "MINT" cabin. At the current price of the seats, I can't recommend this experience enough. Seat was comfortable in sitting, relaxing, and lie flat modes. Seats in Row 5 are near the front coach bathrooms and the "snack bar" which led to a few curious people peeking their heads into our seats. Congregating was kept to a minimum and the insulation between the seats and bathroom meant very little sound intrusion. Mint currently boards first and while the attendents are taking initial drink orders, the coach passengers are still trying to board through the section which does lead to some awkward encounters and minor traffic jams. All in all, a great experience I hope to enjoy again soon.

I recently flew LAX to JFK on this new aircraft. 19D is directly behind a jump seat that has a large base. Consequently, you cannot stretch your legs whatsoever and, depending on how long your legs are, will need to wrap your knees under the seat. Outrageous that JetBlue considers this an Even More Space seat.
