What is Azores Airlines' (S4) Unaccompanied Minor Service?

Young children traveling without a parent or legal guardian are considered to be Unaccompanied Minors, and are accompanied from check in until the child's guardian in the destination claims them.

What age does my child have to be to qualify as an Unaccompanied Minor?

The service is mandatory for children younger than 12 traveling without an adult. Unaccompanied children between 3 months and 4 years old may travel unaccompanied if personalized support is provided by an additional flight attendant and this service has been reserved at least 72 hours prior to departure. Passengers 12 - 17 may request a special assistance service.

What are the fees associated with this service?

The fees for passengers 5 - 11 are as follows:

  • Domestic flights and flights within Europe: EUR 40
  • Flights from Portugal to Canada and the United States: EUR 100
  • Flights from Canada to Portugal: CAD 150
  • Flights from the United States to Portugal: USD 150

Passengers 3 months to 4 years old will be charged an adult fare.
