Air North Infants Policy

Do I need to reserve a seat for my infant on Air North (4N)?

Absolutely. However, the infant must be seated in a seat certified for motor vehicle or aircraft use or the adult must hold the infant during taxi, takeoff, landing, at any time the fasten seatbelt sign is illuminated, and when instructed to do so by the flight crew. For information about what to look for in approved seats, please visit this Transport Canada FAQ item. The car seat must be approved by Canadian Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS) 213 or 213.1.

Will I pay for my infant to travel on Air North (4N)?

One child under two years of age may travel free of charge as long as they are accompanied by one fare-paying adult (18 years of age or older), and are seated on the adult’s lap for the duration of the flight. Please note that under Transport Canada regulations, one adult may not be responsible for more than one infant.

What if my child turns 2 on the trip; will I have to buy a ticket for the return flight on Air North(4N)?

Yes, a ticket will have to be purchased for any flight on which the infant will be over 2 years old.

Are strollers or infant carriers permitted beyond security?

Strollers and infant carriers of reasonable compact size are allowed to transport your infant to the gate area. The stroller and/or infant carrier may be taken onboard as long as they may be compacted and may be stored in the overhead bin. If you have a stroller and/or infant carrier that may not be stored in the overhead bin, then you may gate check for cargo hold transport with the gate agent.
