Air Dolomiti: Children Flying Alone

What is Air Dolomiti’s Unaccompanied Minor Service?

Young children traveling without a parent or legal guardian are considered to be Unaccompanied Minors. Most airlines provide a service - UNMR - to assist these children from their point of departure to their final destination.

What age does my child have to be to qualify as an Unaccompanied Minor?

The service is mandatory for children ages 5-11 traveling without a passenger who is at least 12 years old. Italian minors departing from Italian airports minors aged between 5 and 13 years may only fly unescorted if they use the compulsory Air Dolomiti UMNR service.

Children under 5 years of age are not allowed to travel unless accompanied by an adult who is at least 17 years old.

What are the fees associated with this service?

The UMNR service fee follow:

  • Italy domestic flights: €40.00
  • European flights: €60.00
  • Intercontinental flights: €100.00

This charge is in addition to the applicable airfare as well as any associated ticketing charge. The charge will be assessed for each individual unaccompanied minor. Two or more unaccompanied children from the same family (same surname), traveling on the same flights, will be assessed a single charge.

Are there any document requirements?

  • Unaccompanied Minors ages 5-13 flying out of Italy must be in possession of a “Dichiarazione di Affido” entrusting them to the airline. This document must be requested from an Italian police station (not available from the airport police office). If the minor lives outside Italy, then the document may be issued by an Italian embassy or consulate.
